First Day in Vancouver!

My trip started in March, 03 2006. I took a bus from Campinas to Guarulhos Airport at 3:30 pm, Saturday. I had an overnight flight with Air Canada and was so excited about my first international flight!
Everything went well in the airport, everything so new and vivid, different people from all over the world, the place totally crowded, so many languages heard. It was like the world was opened to me, freedom.
The flight went well, I sat aside a girl from Montreal, crazy girl, thankfully she didn't speak French, so we chat for awhile. Poor girl, she went traveling in South America for 3 months: Colombia, Chile, Peru, etc and then the only way for her to get back to Canada was going to Brazil and taking an Air Canada flight, but detail, she didn't have a Brazilian visa, so she was literally locked in a small room in the airport for 24 hours, with some water from the tap, waiting for the flight. She said she would never come back to Brazil, she was really badly treated by the officials there. But she was OK, nobody asked her to go ilegally to another country... at least they didn't teasered her (sorry, bad joke).
So I arrived in Toronto and after 6 hours I was in rainy-cold-grey Vancouver. Was not the most beautiful of the days, but who cares, I was in Canada!
The guy who drives all the students to their homestays was late. I was hungry. But soon I got to my new home-for-a-month, and nobody was there, they were in the church (Sunday). But the apartment was nice, a two flooring place with a bedroom only for me, clean, nice, a fishbow, a bird in the corner... yes, a bird. I went walk by the hood, recognizing the area. I emailed my parents using an internet place, 2 dollars by half an hour.
Back to the house, my homestays were there. I was expecting two old guys, fat, glasses, weirdos... but I got a wonderful young couple, both handsome people, almost the same age as me, newly married. He, from Saskatoon. She from Australia and heavy accent.
Next day I went to the school, and after that, walked all possible streets until 5 pm. Vancouver is a beautiful city when you arrive, even after. But I was waiting for the snow, I was here for the snow! Nope, just rain, rain, rain. March...ah!!
